The Collection Development Program provides multiple copies of titles which classroom teachers use occasionally during the school year. The Collection Development Program is available to participating districts and the books are housed in the libraries of participating schools. To borrow a collection, contact your library media specialist.
With over 100 titles to choose from, the collection is divided into the following categories:
Class sets: approximately 30 copies of each title, many with correlating teacher guides
Author Collections: one copy of several titles by well-known authors
Subject Collections: one copy of titles correlating to a specific subject or theme
Literature Circle Collections: approximately 5 copies of a few titles that are perfect to use with small group reading instruction
Many audio book and video titles to correlate with these books are also available to borrow.
This program was started at the request of classroom teachers, and teachers are encouraged to suggest titles to add to the collection.
