The SLS summer workshops are free and open to anyone working in a school library in the Genesee Valley BOCES region. Lunch will be provided from 12:30 - 1 and the programs will run from 1 3. Contact Colleen Stedman, (585) 344/658-7946, cstedman2@gvboces.org to register.
July 10: Mandarin (Le Roy Conf Rm A)
Best practices for getting the most out of your Mandarin. Please bring your questions as well as your personal favorite tips and tricks.
July 15: Smart Boards (Livonia Junior High School Library)
Advanced lesson planning and usage of the SMART Boards. Get hands on with the SMART hardware and software.
July 24: SLS Labs (Le Roy Conf Rm C)
A new media streaming site, a social bookmarking site, a re-imagined database page and a new ILL site. Come discuss and give us ideas and feedback for our latest web projects that are still in their early development stages.
July 31: Gaming (Le Roy Conf Rm D)
Come play and learn about the newest games in the SLS game library. Play the games and discuss strategies for building connections with curriculum and student learning. Share and brainstorm ways to implement gaming in your school.
August 5: Fish4Info Basics (Le Roy Conf Rm C)
Do you want to start in on Fish4Info, or do you want a refresher course? We will cover the basics of what you need to know to start using your site.
August 7: Fish4Info Advanced (Le Roy Conf Rm C)
A more open-ended Fish workshop. We will have work hands-on, answering the questions that you bring. Bring your ideas and advice for your peers.
August 21: Page Turners Website (Le Roy Conf Rm C)
In the true spirit of Page Tuners, the Page Turners website offers all students in Page Turners an opportunity to connect and share their love of books and reading. Learn how you can facilitate your students being a part of this meaningful experience.
August 28: Mandarin (Le Roy Conf Rm C)
Best practices for getting the most out of your Mandarin (Part II). We will review the best of what came out of the first workshop, add some things we may have missed and prepare you for a new year of Mandarin.
