Cooperative Collection Development

The Genesee Valley BOCES School Library System has established a Cooperative Collection Development Program with its member libraries in accordance with the Commissioner’s Regulations for Education section 90.18(c)(1).

Cooperative Collection Development (CCD) is defined as the allocation, acquisition, management and maintenance of specialized resource collections which will mutually benefit all participating member libraries.

Goals of the CCD Program are:

  • to increase the shared strength and depth of the region’s available resources.
  • to promote cost-effective collection development by minimizing the duplication of specialized resources in individual libraries.
  • to facilitate the sharing of resources through the region’s inter-library loan network.

Objectives of the CCD Program are:

  • to continue to support the CCD grant for print materials.
  • to maintain CCD services of non-print materials including online databases.
  • to develop curriuclum based resource collections devoted to one unit of study, Circulating Curriculum Bags (CCB), which support the NYS Learning Standards.
  • to maintain curriculum based criteria which support the NYS Learning Standards while developing all resource collections.
  • to promote the availability of the information and resources supported through CCD collections within our system.
