Help the SLS Celebrate National Gaming @ Your Library Day!
Submitted by cgharris on April 15, 2008 - 8:35am.Friday, April 18th, is the first National Gaming @ Your Library Day as part of National Library Week. We will be hosting a Game Library open house to share new acquisitions to the collection as well as demonstrate the potential for video game systems like the Wii.

We the People Bookshelf
Submitted by cgharris on April 15, 2008 - 6:09am.The School Library System of Genesee Valley BOCES, applying on behalf of the member libraries of the region, was selected as a recipient of the We the People Bookshelf "Created Equal" project. This collaboration between the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities provides free resources to libraries to help students explore a topic. By reading some of the 17 titles provided K-12, the students of our region will develop a more clear sense of equality. A regional website is being developed to allow students to share these thoughts in writing, as podcasts, and through discussion with peers.
Congratulations also to librarian Clare Keating at York Central School who applied for and was accepted to the We the People Bookshelf project individually.

Computers in Libraries 2008
Submitted by bmayer on April 1, 2008 - 7:58am.Chris, Andy and Brian will be taking Fish4Info to Arlington, VA to showcase at the Internet@Schools East section of Computers in Libraries April 6th - 9th. Thanks to all of you who have helped make Fish what it is today. Your feedback, experimentation and implementation have helped up slowly develop it into one of the leading Library 2.0 technologies.
